Urology
Urology is a branch of medicine, which focuses on diseases of the urinary tract (male and female) and the male reproductive organs. There are many urological conditions but some of the most common include:
- urinary tract infection (UTI)
- benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH)
- erectile dysfunction (ED)
- male infertility
- urinary incontinence
UTIs are very common ailments. About 40% of women and 12% of men have symptoms of at least one UTI during their lifetime. Immunity plays a vital role in patient’s susceptibility to UTIs.
BPH is common in aging men. About 50% of all men above the age of 50 have BPH. There are many treatments for BPH and herbal therapies have shown promising results.
ED can happen at any age, but is more common in men older than 65. The cause of ED is most often a physical problem (75%). There are multiple options for the treatment of ED.
Our urology team helps patients better understand their symptoms, and designs treatment options and strategies for maintaining good urologic health.
